Done is better than perfect...

I didn't use to think so. Perfect is perfect, period! Anything less is less than perfect. The truth is that done is done. Done gets it done. My case in point. Years ago I was working at an art gallery on the campus where I went to junior college. The gallery had just opened a new show and the traditional "opening" was going on.
A woman was talking to with a group of artists.
"I've been working on my novel for almost 10 years. Every word has to perfect...."
10 years. Barbara Cartland, a romance novelist, is said to have written a full manuscript every 2 weeks! That's the rate of 26 novels a year!
I know that she went back and edited them. She had a staff do things too, I'd put money on it. The reality is, many people know who she is. I can't remember this other woman's name. She may have published her book. She may still be ruminating on every perfect word. You can be that 10 years of Cartland romances, a possible 260 books, would build the skill to be a better and more fluid writer in that same time.
My mother told me about a teacher who had his class choose between making one perfect ceramic pot or making as many as they could to earn an A. It turns out this story is a parable with a root of truth. You can read more about this here Austin Kleon Quantity Leads to Quality.
It turns out that loads of done leads to perfect.
Why am I writing about this?
My webinar is done. It's free and has a survey. Is it perfect? No. It's done. The first of many I hope. You can check it out here for a time. I hope you do.
